Are We Interviewing Or Are We INTERVIEWING?

Where do we start with preparing for an interview? That's a good question, and there are so many answers. We could start with attire, what time to arrive (or log on…remember we've entered into the new world since COVID), what questions to ask, and many other things to consider, but right now, we’re going to talk about the interview type. So are we interviewing or INTERVIEWING?

Many of you are probably familiar with behavioral-based interview questions. If you’re lucky enough, you may interview with someone and only have to answer questions about your experience, interest in the role, and what skills you’ll bring to the job that make you the best candidate. Cake right? Maybe not, but when we’re INTERVIEWING that’s when those behavioral-based questions are thrown at us. You know, “tell me about a time when”, or “describe when you were faced with”,… blah, blah, blah. You get it. These can be really tough questions, and what makes them even more challenging is that they require you to think on your feet, but remember you got it!

The key to answering these questions is providing a complete answer from start to finish. Before you interview, just keep in mind that you may be asked a variety of questions, so it's important to prepare. PREPARE for your interview as if you were studying for a test. Put in the time, and use strategies that will help you answer any type of questions that may be asked of you.
